- 1931 - Born on 15th October 1931 at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu
- 1954 - Graduates in Physics from Saint Joseph's College, Tiruchi
- 1960 - Gains degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology
- 1960 - He joined the Defence Research and Development Organisation. Five years later he joined the Indian Space Research Organisation
- 1980 - India enters the space club by putting the Rohini satellite in the near earth orbit with the first indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III), developed under the stewardship of Dr. Kalam
- 1981 - Receives Padma Bhushan Award
1982 - He joined the Defence Research and Development Laboratory in Hyderabad as director after his stint with the Vikram Sarabbai Space Centre
1987 - receives Om Prakash Bhasin awards for science and technology
1989 - Indian Scientists of the DRDO successfully test fired the Agni missile into the waters of the Indian Ocean. He was responsible for the development and operationalisation of AGNI
1990 - Padma Vibhushan for Dr. Kalam
1992 - Government announced the appointment of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam as Scientific Adviser to the Defence Minister, Secretary to the Department of Defence Research and Development and Director-General, Defence Research and Development Organization
1993 - The medium range surface-to-surface missile 'Prithvi' was launched from the interim test range (ITR) at Chandipur-on-Sea. Dr. Kalam was the Prithvi Project Director.
1998 -Kalam conferred the Bharat Ratna Award
1999 - Pokhran II Nuclear tests. DR. Kalam led Pokhran-II nuclear tests in collaboration with Department of Atomic Energy, which made India a nuclear weapon State
2000 - THE VISVA BHARTI conferred its highest award Deshikottam on 10 luminaries, including ace nuclear scientist AP J Abdul Kalam
2001 - Quits as the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister
2002 - A.P.J. ABDUL Kalam sworn in as the India's 12th President
2012 - He declared that he had decided not to contest a second term in the country’s highest constitutional office
2015 - A.P.J. Abdul Kalam dies in shillong at 83
